Are you dizzy?

Do you remember, as a child, intentionally spinning around and around in a circle until you were so dizzy that you could not stand up?

I remember doing this in several different ways when I was a kid.  There were times that I stood looking straight up and went around and around until I would fall over.  There were even times that some of us boys would make a competition out of it, to see who would be the last boy standing.  Then there were the times at the neighborhood park that we would get on the large metal disk with vertical bars on it. Everyone would take their turn spinning the disk around faster and faster while the others tried to hold on for the ride (and their lunch).  Somehow, we thought of this was "fun".  As I have grown older, I don't find it amusing anymore to make myself dizzy.  So, I avoid going in circles whenever possible.

However, I have noticed that some Christians complain about the "dizzying" pace of their life.  Others state how they feel so out of balance in their life.  These folks often realize that their life is going around and around in circles, but they are so busy trying to hang on for dear life that they can't change it.

Fortunately, there is a solution.  We often start going in circles as a result of trying to take care of too many things at one time, but God gives us directives that bring our lives into order and provides us with a straight path from where we are to where we need to be.

Through His word and the Holy Spirit, we can…

(A) Stop the marry-go-round

(B) Get clear direction

(C) And receive enablement to move forward

Consider the following verses:

Proverbs 3. 5 (ESV) Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Deuteronomy 2.1-2…. we wandered around in the region of Mount Seir for a long time.

2 “Then at last the Lord said to me, 3 ‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north.

God has a wonderful track record of speaking order and purpose to wandering lives.  So, if life has you feeling dizzy, don't keep going around in circles – allow God to give you a straight path to where you need to be.
